Gaining Insight: Collaboration between German Wind Power and POLISH™: Utilizing 3D immersive experiences to assist BD teams in showcasing corporate services

I. Revolutionizing Wind Power Service Display with 3D Scenarios

Traditionally, sales of products aimed at professionals are often monotonous and filled with technical details online. Deutsche Windtechnik seeks to transform this situation. They aspire to present offshore wind power maintenance services, train professional personnel, and offer other expert services in a captivating and engaging manner, placing these products within user-friendly contexts that are instantly comprehensible.

Case Presentation Video - Collaboration between German Wind Power and POLISH™

Deutsche Windtechnik offers a variety of wind energy maintenance support and services to professional users and needs to present these products in a “distinctly different from competitors” manner. Clients approached POLISH™ with the concept of “scenario first”, aiming to showcase products within a 3D environment that creates an immediate connection between the product and its intended use.


II. Designing Multi-Site 3D Scenarios, Connecting Over 30 Wind Power Service Applications

Considering that users might be seeking different services and application scenarios, POLISH™ has crafted multiple environments corresponding to various use-cases, allowing these services to be displayed most suitably. Clients provided more than 30 service materials, and POLISH™ needed to optimize them to ensure a smooth browsing experience. Meanwhile, they constructed five service fields from scratch, iteratively adjusting to ensure each service scenario aligns with industry standards of reality and wind energy engineering, without being overly literal in presentation.

On the website, clicking any service allows users to view introductions related to the service, including product overviews, images, videos, and technical documents. A “Contact Us” link is also set up to enable users to reach Deutsche Windtechnik and potentially foster collaboration.


III. Overcoming Modeling Challenges to Achieve Focused 3D Scenario Navigation

Building a 3D environment is not easy, let alone creating an island with five service scenarios. In each scenario, POLISH™ leads users into corresponding field areas, and to prevent distractions from other content, they make other service contents transparent, ensuring users can always focus on the current service scenario and interact through clicks.

User and Service Interaction Experience - Collaboration between German Wind Power and POLISH™

Although it took considerable effort to fine-tune the 3D details, the investment was worthwhile. Ultimately, POLISH™ achieved an intuitive browsing method (requiring only dragging and clicking), making a relatively complex environment interesting and worth exploring.


IV. Finding the Precise Balance Between Technical Standards and Performance in 3D Optimization Challenges

The primary challenge faced by POLISH™ was undoubtedly balancing “meeting industry technical standards” and “performance optimization.” Imagine a wind power maintenance service where every wind turbine facility, professional personnel, or tool needs to be clearly understood by experts; simultaneously, polygon counts must be minimized to maintain optimal frame rates across the platform.

The downgrading and optimization of such complex objects rely solely on a highly talented 3D team. At the end of the project, both clients and users were delighted to find that these products retained their original appearance and detail while being easy to operate and quick to load.
